Job Responsibilities
Once an army training base, Croft State Park covers more than 7,000 acres of rolling, wooded terrain just a few miles from downtown Spartanburg. The park offers over 20 miles of biking and hiking trails, a playground, picnicking and camping, as well as fishing and boating in one of two lakes.

Job Purpose and Duties:

Responsible for overall operation, interpretation, and maintenance of a State Park. Performs diversified duties as governed by general instruction, policies and standard operating procedures of the Department. Provide support to regional chief as needed.
1) Responsible for change funds, revenues collected, receipts and their accountability and disposition.
2) Perform all required administrative functions to include providing accurate and timely reports in accordance with Departmental policy and procedures.
3) Assures that all facilities, equipment, and property are maintained to the standards set forth by the Department. Works to provide a safe environment for park visitors and employees.
4) Ensures that park operations are operated in the most cost efficient manner possible, assuring that all activities i.e. waterfront operation, retail sales, etc. are conducted in accordance with established procedures and policies.
5) Effectively trains and supervises full-time staff and directs the activities of seasonal employees.
6) Performs continued public relation activities, educational and recreational activities as required. Enforces park rules, regulations and policies within his/her authority. Develops leadership skills.
7) Employee will be required to live in designated park housing to provide for security, safety and emergency response.
8) Practice and promote teamwork within the Mountain Region work unit, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Park Administration or related field with two (2) years experience in park administration and operation in a managerial or supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements:

1) Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays. Position requires residency in agency-provided housing.
2) Requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain. Accurate and timely completion of all park related administrative functions. Encouragement of public support for state parks through programs, civic contributions, and central office support. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other materials related to a horse barn operation -manure, etc.
3) Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
