Pay Grade:

41H Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications 1. Two (2) years of experience in on-the-job training or formal work training as a foreman, of which one (1) or more years in a lead capacity is preferred; AND 2. High school diploma or possess a

GED. 3. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Leads and coordinates the activities of work crew(s) to maintain county-owned cemeteries. 2. Develops job assignments for crews and participate in crew work to accomplish tasks or to demonstrate tasks to be performed. 3. Assists management with creating and maintaining burial plot records, gravesites, and burial requests from various hospitals and funeral homes. 4. Schedules burials and pickup of deceased bodies that may have infectious diseases from funeral homes, hospitals, and other institutions for burials in the Shelby County Cemetery. 5. Monitors inventory of materials and supplies, as well as the safe and proper use of all assigned equipment/tools and operator maintenance. 6. Operates heavy-duty equipment, such as front-end loaders, backhoes, forklifts, tractors, trucks, etc., and maintains repair of equipment. 7. Determines locations of the burial sites and creates a schedule for burials, coordinating with funeral directors to be present. 8. Inspects the condition of cemeteries and equipment and reports the condition to management. 9. Reports daily and monthly activity records as required by management. 10. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed. KSAs 1. Knowledge of supervision and personnel management practices and techniques. 2. Knowledge of the safety rules when operating heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, backhoes, forklifts, tractors, trucks, etc. 3. Knowledge of managerial and leadership principles. 4. Proper handling of deceased bodies with infectious diseases. 5. Abilities to coordinate and direct the activities of assigned personnel. 6. Ability to prepare reports and make sound recommendations. 7. Ability to train employees. 8. Ability to communicate effectively; verbally and written. 9. Ability to operate calculator, fax, and copier. Physical Requirements 1. Must successfully pass a physical examination and be in good physical condition. 2. Must be able to consistently lift ninety (90) pounds. 3. Must be able to work primarily outside and work around moving mechanical machinery and construction sites. Special Requirements 1. Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver’s License. 2. Must have a valid Bloodborne Pathogen training certification or secure one by the end of the probationary period. 3.
