International Residence Hall is the Nation’s most experienced operator of Employee Housing for BridgeUSA J1 Work Travel Students. We provide a comfortable, safe, and welcoming home-away-from-home to people from at least 30 different countries and we have served local employers large and small. We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Landscaping and Maintenance Technician to join our team at the International Residence Hall. This role is responsible for maintaining the exterior grounds as well as performing general building maintenance duties in and around our housing facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in both landscaping and general maintenance, ensuring that the residence hall remains safe, functional, and visually appealing.
Key Responsibilities:
Landscaping Duties:
Mow, edge, and fertilize lawns on a regular schedule Trim and prune trees, shrubs, and hedges Apply pesticides, weed barrier, herbicides, and fertilizers as needed Maintain and operate landscaping tools and equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers) Perform seasonal yard clean-up including leaf and debris removal Ensure proper disposal of yard waste and recycling
Building Maintenance Duties:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs in dormitory areas including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC support Conduct inspections and respond to maintenance requests from residents or management in a timely manner Replace light bulbs, repair furniture, patch walls, and troubleshoot minor issues in rooms and common areas Maintain cleanliness and order in maintenance storage and work areas Assist with room turnover including painting, minor repairs, and fixture replacements Respond to emergency maintenance issues when needed Monitor and report any safety hazards or equipment issues Ensure compliance with all building codes, health regulations, and safety procedures Other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred 2+ years of experience in landscaping and/or general maintenance Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, painting, and general repairs Ability to operate and maintain landscaping and maintenance tools/equipment safely Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions Good communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Working Conditions:
Indoor and outdoor work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions May involve occasional evening or weekend shifts, especially during student move-in/move-out or emergencies
