This position is designated by the Institution as Essential Personnel. Responsibilities 1
- Collects trash from parking lots, sidewalks, and other areas; empties trash cans. 2
- Assists in the installation and repair of irrigation systems. 3
- Mows grass and removes weeds. 4
- Operates and maintains grounds equipment. 5
- Trims trees and hedges. 6
- Installs and maintains flower beds and other landscaping features. 7
- Applies pesticides and herbicides. 8
- Assists in setting-up for special campus events 9
- Performs related duties Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Other Required Qualifications
Must possess a current valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report review.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing.

ABILITIES
Ability to work while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
Ability to work outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with the work.
Knowledge of grounds maintenance principles.
SKILLS
Skill in the operation and repair of maintenance equipment.
