s to Grounds Manager Days/Work Hours Monday to Friday (7:00am to 3:30pm), Seasonal (6:00am to 2:30pm) Days off Saturday & Sunday Pay rate $34.10 per hour ($35.03/hr after July 1, 2025)

PRIMARY FUNCTION

(S): Under the direction of the Head of Golf, the Senior Groundskeeper will perform duties primarily associated with golf course operations, but may also perform work associated with grounds operations as directed. Perform all phases of golf course maintenance, from day to day activities such as mowing, and raking of bunkers, to irrigation repairs, and major renovation projects. This includes the safe and proper operation of all golf course and grounds department equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will at times support the college’s sports turf facilities including turf management, set up, and maintenance. Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and professional attitude while working as part of a team, and while interacting with the public, and the Nehoiden membership. The successful candidate will frequently be asked to work overtime as needed, and must understand that this is routine for the proper operations of a golf course. Furthermore, the candidate must understand the importance of, and be willing to work overtime including weekends associated with Golf and Grounds operations, events support, snow removal, including shoveling, and other duties as assigned. Assist in the direction of casual wage employees. Excellentmunication skills are required, including both verbal and written presentational skills as well as good leadership qualities. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and understand the importance of customer service. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Golf, Head of Grounds or the Grounds Manager.

SKILLS:

Ability toanize and prioritize work, takes initiative, resolve problems, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability tomunicate and work effectively with all levels in a demanding environment. Demonstrated ability to act decisively and independently to resolveplex issues. Strongputer skills, knowledge of MS Office including email and electronic calendars, work order system software concentrating with asset inventory management, bar code scanning,petent problem-solving and project management skills. Prior experience working in an electronic Work Order Management system. Ability to speak English. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Communicate clearly and concisely and be able to relay instructions and directions to others. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Able to withstand long period of walking, standing, twisting and lifting. The candidate must possess demonstrable knowledge of the basic rules of the game of golf, including proper course set up, tee and cup placement, maintenance operations, calibration of spray equipment, proper irrigation management and repairs. The Senior Groundskeeper must be in good health with the ability to perform strenuous manual labor in all weather conditions including lifting/carrying/transporting heavy loads up to 50 pounds, and greater with help.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience Bachelor’s or Associates degree in turf, horticulture, or related field preferred. Must have recent golf course experience (within the past five years). Current knowledge of proper golf turf maintenance required, as well as a sound basic knowledge of ornamental horticulture including plant identification. Must have a thorough knowledge of proper pest control including, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), chemical use and safety, turf grass identification, as it relates to successful turf physiology practices. Certificates and/or Licenses Hoisting Engineer License Massachusetts Pesticide Applicators License Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. The successful candidate will have to obtain a DOT health card before first day of employment of this position. College is responsible for payment
