Bermuda Village Drive Advance, NC Job Overview:
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of all outdoor areas in the Independent Living section of Bermuda Village. This includes landscaping, lawn care, seasonal maintenance, and general upkeep to create a pleasant and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities:
Maintains lawns, flower beds, walkways, and outdoor common areas. Perform mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching, and planting as needed. Water plants and maintain irrigation systems. Remove debris, litter, and fallen branches to keep grounds clean and safe. Perform seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow/ice clearing, and salting walkways. Inspect outdoor lighting and flagpoles; report needed repairs. Assist with minor outdoor repairs (benches, signage, fences, etc.) Ensure all equipment is used and stored properly and safely. Support set-up and take-down of outdoor events or resident activities as needed. Communicate effectively with residents and staff in a courteous manner. Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies. Performs other related duties as assigned. May work in other positions temporarily when necessary. Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked. Excellent organizational and time management skills while working individually. Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents and staff. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people within the community. Perform job duties for residents and with team members in a courteous and professional manner. Take the initiative to ensure resident safety and satisfaction is a priority. Meet and greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner (visitors include anyone who visits the community; specifically, current residents’ families and friends, prospective residents and their families, referral sources, vendors and regulators). Ensure compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights.
Required Qualifications:
Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related field. Basic knowledge of lawn and garden equipment and safe operating procedures. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must pass a criminal background check. Must meet all health and safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Physical Requirements Work Conditions:
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. May involve exposure to chemicals, pollen, dust, and noise from equipment. Occasional weekend or holiday work may be required for seasonal needs or emergencies. Must be available to be on-call in rotation with other maintenance team members. Monday-Friday, 8 Hour Shifts. Subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.). Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions to dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals. Including but not limited to sitting/standing in place for short/long periods at a time, repetitive use of hands, fingers, wrists, arms, frequent walking, bending, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing/pulling/lifting 25+lbs. High people interaction, bright and low lighting, loud noises, fluctuating temperatures, exposure to odors communicable illness/disease and other related infectious contagions found in a healthcare/residential setting.
