Head Gardener Over The River Farm Rhinebeck, NY 12572 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced passionate Gardener to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a vast knowledge of perennial gardens and Greenhouse plants and care. As the head gardener you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the beauty of the landscapes, gardens, and grounds. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to nurturing plants and outdoor spaces. Responsibilities Plant, cultivate, and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants in gardens and landscaped areas. Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for various gardening tasks. Irrigate plants using appropriate methods to ensure optimal growth. Monitor plant health and identify any pest or disease issues; implement appropriate solutions. Maintain cleanliness of garden beds and outdoor spaces by removing debris and weeds. Assist in the setup and maintenance of greenhouses as needed. Collaborate with team members to design new garden layouts or improve existing landscapes. Skills Proficiency with hand tools such as pruners, shovels, rakes, and hoes. Knowledge of growing techniques for various plants and flowers. Familiarity with groundskeeping practices to ensure well-maintained outdoor areas. Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively for gardening tasks. Understanding of irrigation systems to maintain healthy plant life. Experience working in an estate or greenhouse setting is a plus. Monday through Friday and occasional watering on weekends.
