JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs lawn care duties, including mowing, trimming, edging, and weed eating grounds as needed. Maintains the fairways, rough, and bunkers. Trims bushes and trees. Clears land. Maintains pond banks. Keeps maintenance shop clean daily. Performs light maintenance and painting as necessary. Performs daily maintenance on equipment. Applies chemicals. Maintains clubhouse and tennis court areas. Serves as back up to co-workers. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent. One-year experience performing grounds keeping, landscaping, or outdoor laborer work. Prior experience at a golf course preferred. Any combination of education and experience totaling one-year may be considered. Valid South Carolina Driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of grounds keeping. Knowledge of safety practices involved in grounds keeping. Knowledge of department policies and procedures. Knowledge of golf course care. Skill in the use of greens, fairway, tee, and rough mowers. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to operate weed eater, edger, chainsaw, and brush cutter. Ability to perform heavy lifting. Ability to be attentive to surroundings while working on a golf course. Ability to multi-task.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move bags of fertilizer and other objects and the following physical abilities: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed outdoors with constant exposure to noise, dirt, grease, irritating chemicals, insects, inclement weather and golfers. Employee exposed to a variety of maintenance equipment and chemicals.
