Fine Gardening is a boutique residential and small commercial landscaping company. We are looking for a hard working, details oriented gardener who loves plants and doesn’t mind getting dirty. For twenty seven years we have specialized in sustainable and precise landscaping, using annuals, perennials, organic fertilizer, and container gardening to create a seasonal and custom landscape for our clients. The ideal gardener will work in an intimate team environment, supporting the team in creating and completing unique landscaping projects.   • This position will start as full-time, as this is our busiest time of the year. Hours can fluctuate in the off-season (cooler months ) .
Description:

Duties include, but are not limited to: Work directly with the owner and team manager, as well as independently, in completing creative landscaping projects. Conduct property “walk throughs”, assess garden conditions. Identify maintenance needs (weeding, watering, cleanup). Document with photos for planning. Ability (or willingness to learn how) to drive a truck with an enclosed trailer. Assist with tool/plant transportation, especially for large estates. Help with nursery care and organization. Perform tasks such as weeding, digging, lifting, planting, and hand pruning. Aid in job site setup/cleanup. Maintain clean work environments. Communicate effectively with the team about observations. Communicate with customers in a friendly and professional manner.

Requirements:

Knowledge of Plant Care

  • Ability to identify plants and provide proper care (watering, pruning, fertilizing, etc.). Experience with Outdoor Equipment
  • Familiarity with using tools such as spades, handsaws, pruners, shears, and gas-or battery-powered blowers. Physical Stamina
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks like lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Attention to Detail
  • Careful attention to plant health, garden aesthetics, and maintenance of tools and equipment. Strong Communication Skills
  • Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively with supervisors or team members, and possibly interact with customers. Basic Landscaping Skills
  • Knowledge of soil types, mulching, planting techniques, and garden design are preferred. Time Management
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively while performing garden duties. Safety Awareness
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for using gardening tools and equipment, and working in outdoor environments. Willingness to Learn
