Grounds Crew The Keith Corporation – 3.8 Chattanooga, TN Job Details Full-time $18 – $20 an hour 8 hours ago Qualifications Management English Mid-level High school diploma or GED Driver’s License Hand tools 2 years Full Job Description Position Summary The Grounds Technician is responsible for performing gardening, landscaping and grounds maintenance providing a safe, clean aesthetically appealing campus environment. Assisting with the maintenance of, but not limited to, irrigation systems, pathways, and paved surfaces. This individual will maintain a high level of professionalism in addressing facility management issues including response to and resolution of any client requests or concerns. Essential Functions Mowing/ cutting grass Trimming/ edging Cleaning campus grounds Planting/ cultivating flower beds & landscaped areas Pruning trees and shrubbery Sweeping sidewalks and streets Clearing storm drains & ditch lines Blowing raking leaves Maintaining athletic fields Other maintenance, housekeeping and grounds duties as assigned. Other Functions Complete corrective/preventative maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner Maintaining/ inspecting/ refueling tools & equipment Assisting with event set-up (moving tables and chairs) Assisting with campus moves Maintaining a clean shop space Competencies Familiar with the use of landscaping equipment: zero-turn mowers, push mowers, chainsaws, edgers, trimmers, blowers, etc. Fluent in English language to speak, read and write clearly Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required High School Diploma or equivalent 2+ years of experience of any combination of relevant education, training, or experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job Fluent in English language to speak, read and write clearly Valid driver’s license Knowledge of and ability to follow policies and procedures Knowledge of general grounds keeping practices and irrigation systems Knowledge of pest control practices, procedures and methods Knowledge of athletic field requirements and standards Skill in mixing pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers Skill operating heavy equipment and power and hand tools Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and take appropriate action, resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other departmental staff, students and the public Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, non-exempt position with normal working hours Monday through Friday, working 40 hours per week. However, as business needs become necessary, afterhours, holidays, or weekends may be required. Travel There is no travel required for this position. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment Work is primarily performed under general supervision and may require working early morning shifts in a variety of climatic conditions. May work with potentially hazardous chemicals to include, but not limited to, cleaning agents, sanitizers, fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. Must be able to work in hazardous conditions with an attention to maintaining safety standards.
