Airport Grounds Maintenance (PT/Seasonal) Millington-Memphis Airport Millington, TN Job Details Part-time | Seasonal From $15 an hour 14 hours ago Benefits Opportunities for advancement Qualifications Heavy lifting Driver’s License Entry level Under 1 year Full Job Description Performs airport grounds maintenance functions at the Millington-Memphis Airport, including mowing, grounds keeping, and airfield air field. Responsibilities Performs mowing, grounds keeping, weed eating, sweeping, and trash removal. Operates equipment used in airport maintenance such as a zero-turn mower, weedeater/trimmer and manual grounds keeping tools. Removes debris from grounds, assists in inspecting drainage ways for erosion and damage, and assists in maintaining fences. Assists, as needed, during special events, such as airshows and fly-in events. Requirements Ability to read, comprehend and apply information from operating manuals, airport policies and procedures and FAA regulations. Ability to comprehend terminology used within airport operations and to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members. Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize daily assignments and work activities. Ability to work under a minimum degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention to detail. Ability to utilize grounds keeping equipment in a safe manner. Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, and to perform manual labor related to repairs and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Ability to safely operate equipment, including a zero-turn mower, weedeater, general grounds keeping equipment and a two-way radio. Subject to heavy lifting, as much as 50 lbs. and a distance of four feet from the ground. Subject to extensive standing, walking and stooping. Perform duties outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age or older. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license, which must remain valid as a condition of continued employment. Must possess a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Minimum of six (6) months experience performing manual labor preferred, but not required. May be required to work weekends and holidays for weather/snow events, emergencies or special events (airshow). Must pass a background check, driver’s license check and a drug screen. Will work in a non-smoking environment.
