POSITION SUMMARY

The Spray Technician serves as a worker responsible for spraying herbicides and insecticides and for performing landscape maintenance to POA grounds and facilities. Identifies weeds and diagnoses plant diseases and problems; selects and properly mixes, prepares and applies appropriate herbicide/insecticide to eliminate turf weeds and ornamental plant problems. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides support for the department. In addition to other duties as assigned, will maintain complete and accurate records related to assigned work performed, pesticide usage, equipment repair and maintenance, and maintain an inventory of necessary herbicides/insecticides/fertilizers and related products. Will ensure the safety of equipment, property, members and co-workers by following proper safety procedures; perform routine checks, calibrations and preventative maintenance on equipment; identify and report equipment malfunctions; and clean equipment as needed.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

(Illustrative Only) Operates and maintains all spray equipment. Operates hand and power tools. Operates small power-driven equipment like mowers and weed eaters. Maintains grounds of facilities in a neat and professional manner. Mows, trims, edges, sweeps, rakes, cultivates, digs, waters, shovels, fertilizes, plants, seeds. Lays sod, etc. Maintains parks, facilities, parking lots, lake dams, polices grounds. Performs minor adjustments to mowers and equipment. General housekeeping (shop) Must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license to meet the minimum requirements for driving/operating company equipment and vehicles

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Work requires continual attention to details. Must exhibit excellence in Customer Service with all customers. Must have a High school education; 1-3 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid driver’s license. Arkansas Licensed Operator – Tree & Tu rf Pest Control.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Greater than 50 pounds may require team lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Specific required movements include the following: trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry, arm’s reach and leg-lifts. Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required, meeting the job functions.
