Job Description:
Meadowbrook Gardens is seeking to hire or train a pesticide applicator. This role involves the application of pesticides, fertilizers, and other treatments to protect and improve the health of trees and shrubs with limited applications to lawns. Ideal candidates will be reliable & responsible, with considerable tree & shrub knowledge, and a commitment to safety & customer service. Must currently have a CT Jr. Operator (Pesticide) License or the ability to obtain this license within 30 days of hire. We are willing to train motivated individuals looking to learn new skills and start a new career, but extensive plant knowledge a must. Previous experience in landscape maintenance or related field a plus. This is a seasonal job and can be part-time or full-time, but for a full-time position, applicant must have an ability and willingness to fill in on landscaping crews or in the garden center as needed. Starting payrate dependent upon experience & level of managerial capability at the time of hire.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Take verbal and written direction from supervisors & customers. Organize and run routes in the most efficient manner. Mixing, applying, and working with pesticides following state and federal laws, wearing appropriate personal protection equipment as required. Submit paperwork accurately, thoroughly and on time. Communicate effectively (verbal/written) in a timely manner about any problems encountered on service routes, with vehicles/equipment & with regard to adequate pesticide stock & supplies.
Basic Qualifications:
Authorized to work in the United States. Read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license with a good driving record of at least 3 years. The ability to meet the physical demands of the job: walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting & carrying up to 50 lbs. in a variety of environmental conditions, including seasonal weather. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately. Knowledge of Pest Control products, services, regulations & safety procedures a plus. Willingness to follow our company policies, procedures & uphold standards. Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a crew. Operating company vehicles & equipment safely & responsibly. Maintaining vehicles and equipment in proper working order.
