Full-Time Stoney Brook Farm Store and Garden Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to join our team full-time. Role:
As Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our nursery yard, including labor management, product receiving, inventory control, and horticultural care. You will lead a team to ensure a well-organized, safe, and customer-friendly environment while maintaining high standards in plant care and site presentation. While you may delegate tasks, you will maintain accountability for outcomes and ensure quality and efficiency in all areas of nursery operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and oversee daily operations including yard layout, greenhouse planning oversight and care, product placement, loading/unloading, and staff scheduling. Manage incoming materials with attention to quality control, accurate counts, and proper documentation. Maintain receiving records and coordinate timely product signage. Supervise company truck drivers including hiring, compliance, and safety regulations. Oversee maintenance and compliance for all nursery vehicles and equipment. Ensure proper horticultural care of nursery stock, including fertilization and pest control. Manage and monitor the site’s irrigation system. Lead customer service efforts by directing sales staff and personally assisting customers as needed. Maintain inventory control processes to optimize stock and reduce loss. Uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety across the nursery grounds. Participate in recruiting, training, and team development efforts. Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.
Qualifications:
5-8 years of experience in nursery, garden center, landscape, or horticultural operations management OR a degree in a related field. Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize in a dynamic, seasonal environment. Vast knowledge in plant identification Prior experience in greenhouse growing and management Ability to work independently while effectively leading a team. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. as needed. A valid and functional driver’s license is required. Why Join Us?
