POSITION.The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Park Ranger Supervisor to oversee the operations of an assigned park, including supervision of staff, financial record keeping, creating interpretive and recreational programs, enforcing park rules, providing customer service, and addressing maintenance needs of parks grounds and equipment; and to perform other related activities.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Oversee, create, organize, instruct and promote interpretive and recreational programs, including outdoor adventure, athletic activities, environmental education, historical and interpretation programs and services at assigned center.

Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives for educational programs, the nature center, and the management of the park’s natural resources. Conduct surveys and recommend solutions for providing forestry and wildlife management services.

Prepares annual budget, forecasts funds for staffing, equipment and supplies, monitors expenses.

Enforce park and nature center rules, regulations and codes; investigate and report non-complying activities.

Supervise, schedule and assign work performed by volunteers, community service workers and Park Rangers.

Select and train staff; evaluate employee performance, implement improvement plans and disciplinary action.

Evaluate nature trails for safety, take corrective action if unsafe or not to code.

Schedule events for educators, recreation staff, civic groups and business organizations.

Provide information to the general public; respond to citizen inquires and complaints. Conduct surveys and analyze results.

Coordinate the operations a nature center; construct park and nature related displays; maintain and monitor equipment and suppliesPerform preventative maintenance as necessary; schedule major repair and maintenance work.

Curate a variety of native animals, establish feeding and maintenance schedules, ensure adequate supplies are maintained.

Answer questions and provide information to the public concerning park programs, activities, policies and procedures; respond to complaints and forward to appropriate staff; solicit input and information from the public regarding center services and operations.

Collects payment for facility use and program participation, issues receipts, deposit funds and balance money; maintain records of financial transactions; turn money in promptly to City Finance Department as directed by policy.

Prepare, maintain and update a variety of files and records for park and nature programs; prepare and submit requested reports and documentation to appropriate supervisory staffEnsure safe work practices, administer first aid, prepare and file accident reports.
