POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is adding a Senior Park Ranger to our team! This will be a lead position amongst the team and will provide high visibility support for public safety and security enforcement for Mecklenburg County parks. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with County ordinances, policies, rules, and regulations at all of our park facilities. In addition, they will provide information and safety education to the general public. The successful candidate will exhibit the ability to make sound decisions in the absence of a Park Ranger Supervisor. This position will be located in the South Region of Mecklenburg County and will work a rotating schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays based on business needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Patrol parks and recreation facilities for compliance with County ordinances, rules, policies, and regulations Provide assistance and information to visitors Enforce park rules and regulations Open and/or close assigned parks and facilities Conduct routine inspections of grounds, facilities, and recreational areas Maintain park areas including but not limited to trails; clean and disinfect shower areas as needed; maintain picnic areas and restrooms; and pick up trash in parking areas Assist with staff scheduling and provide training as needed Provide incident management support Assist in search & rescue support as needed Work with local law enforcement regarding security plan for park region Provide vehicular support using ATV’s and hauling trailers Serve as the manager on duty Supervise PT staff as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICTIONS
Experience:
Minimum of four (4) years of experience, preferably related to the position
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?:
