Beach Caretaker Beach Season Job Summary:

Supervision and oversight of the Parks & Beaches. This will require a lot of communication with patrons, an understanding of Parks Rules and City Ordinances, navigating parking ticket software on given technology, organization and problem-solving skills.

Example of Duties:

Conduct safety checks of the facility. Ensure all equipment and parts of the EAP are operational and in good standing during the hours of operation. Report any possible dangers in the beach areas to the Assistant Director of Recreation & Facilities. Maintain a friendly and courteous relationship with beach patrons and employees. Educate and enforce parks rules and regulations in regard to safety of patrons. Maintain order at the beach and take steps to prevent trouble. Ensure number of patrons at Parks/Beaches do not exceed the Maximum Capacity. This may involve turning people away at the gates. Monitoring Vehicles for Laconia Resident Passes. Respond to complaints and concerns of the public. Use city software to monitor parking spaces, writing parking tickets when necessary. Organize the day’s parking tickets. Cleaning of the beach, grounds, and guard room daily. Restock Bathroom Supplies when necessary. You may need to unclog a toilet here and there. Empty trash bins when they reach half full. To protect yourself from the dangers of the sun. Must use sunscreen and sunglasses daily. Complete all paperwork correctly and on-time. Drive City Vehicle to close up City Parks Facilities (Closing Shift Only). Other duties as requested.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate and work with patrons of all ages and skill levels in order to maintain a safe environment Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to emergencies, as well as environmental and other hazards, that may arise. Some physical requirements of the Beach Caretaker position could be endurance including prolonged standing, bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate information and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; and with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and natural environment.
