Mosquito Control Technician
Full-Time
Tuesday-Friday / 6:30am-5:00pm
High School or Equivalent Required

Driver’s License Required Summary:

Performs a variety of duties to support the mosquito control operations team.

Essential Functions:

Apply pesticides for mosquito control using a variety of equipment including a spray truck (nighttime operations), handheld applicators and other small equipment, daytime operations Perform accurate data entry of treatment information into handheld computer/iPad Conducts landing rate counts and larval dip counts at assigned locations May assist with the identification of adult mosquitoes and mosquito larvae May assist with scouting for and identifying potential breeding habitats May assist with picking up mosquito surveillance traps and maintenance of trap sites May assist with placement of CO2 gas cylinder (40lbs or less each) at trap sites May assist with arbovirus surveillance activities and maintenance of coop sites and sentinel chickens May assist with maintenance of vehicles and equipment as needed May assist with maintenance of District facilities and grounds as needed May operate a variety of light and heavy equipment to assist with operations Inspect equipment and vehicles for safety and maintenance needs and report any issues to Operations Team Leader Responding to service requests as assigned May assist Public Relations and Education Team Leader with mosquito control awareness programs May assist with loading equipment and vehicles with chemicals Other duties and projects as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Qualifications:

Class E FL Driver’s License with a clean driving record is required (FL Class A CDL Driver’s License preferred) Must be able to work long hours and work on weekends and holidays as needed Must be able to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment Must hold a valid Public Health Pest Control License (within 6 months after hired) Must have a high school diploma or GED, 2 or 4 year College Degree beneficial and preferred

Physical Requirements:

Moderate to heavy physical activity is required on a frequent basis including lifting to fifty (50) pounds, reaching and pulling with arms, stooping, kneeling and bending, walking, standing for long periods of time and climbing stairs. Must be able to use hands and fingers to grip and operate a variety of hand tools and others equipment. Excellent vision, both close and distance, is frequently required.

Work environment:

The work environment varies but could include warehouse, office buildings, helicopters, boats and vehicles. Frequent exposure to all types of weather is required when the position is working outside, exposed to sun, rain, mud and insects. Frequent local travel (within Bay County) is required. Noise level is usually low but occasional exposure to moderate noise levels when around helicopters, tanker trucks and a variety of motors and engines.
