Tree Trimmer Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Trim Crew to join our landscaping team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of pruning techniques and horticultural principles, with the ability to work as a crew member in performing high-quality tree and shrub maintenance. This role requires a balance of technical knowledge, artistry, and a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Pruning and Plant Care Perform precise pruning of shrubs and low trees, including removal of dead or damaged branches. Work with supervisors to meet guidelines and company standards Apply proper horticultural and botanical principles to pruning (plant response, growth direction, landscape intent). Use hedge trimmers, hand pruners, and other tools to shape plants for both health and aesthetics. Understand the landscape design purpose of each plant in its setting. Uphold the artistry and visual appeal of all trimmed plant material. Tool Use and Maintenance Operate and maintain a variety of pruning tools; understand proper sharpening and storage procedures. Training on operating equipment Communicate with Equipment Manager to schedule service of equipment Use blowers and other equipment to thoroughly clean up all job sites. Perform basic tool troubleshooting and report maintenance needs. Crew Leadership and Efficiency Lead by example in job efficiency and high-quality workmanship. Identify opportunities to improve workflow and increase job productivity. Provide guidance and support to crew members on pruning techniques and safety standards. Safety and Compliance Always wear proper PPE (gloves, eye protection, chaps, and hard hat when necessary). Enforce safety procedures Follow MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) safety protocols, including proper cone placement. Ensure safe use of ladders, pole saws, and all equipment. Practice proper lifting techniques (bend at the knees) to reduce risk of injury. Adhere strictly to company safety policies and all OSHA standards. Site Management and Client Interaction Maintain a clean, organized work site and ensure all debris is managed appropriately. Provide exceptional customer service and communicate job progress or issues with clients as needed. Ensure each site is left in a clean and professional condition upon completion of work.

Qualifications:

Prior experience in tree trimming or landscape pruning required. Familiarity with horticultural practices and common pruning methods. Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and mentor crew members. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Physical stamina to perform manual tasks and lift heavy tools or debris. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
