Leesville, LA Position Overview:
The Trimmer Trainee (Start) is an entry-level climbing position responsible for supporting tree care and line clearance operations through a full day of physical labor. This role requires the ability to perform all duties associated with the Groundperson classification, while beginning foundational training in climbing and tree inspection.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate chainsaws for bucking and limbing tasks Operate a chipper and assist with routine maintenance of tools, vehicles, and equipment Set up and clean up job sites, including debris removal Assist climbers or bucket operators from the ground Perform temporary traffic control and serve as a ground spotter Communicate effectively with team members and customers Conduct post-work inspections Set rigging, use throw lines, and tie all necessary knots and hitches Participate in regular training and development sessions Inspect rope, climbing saddle, flip line, and life support hardware before each climb Tie and use approved friction hitches for ascent and descent Perform and explain a pre-climb tree inspection Ascend trees using approved climbing methods
Required Certifications:
Completed and signed Groundperson Training Completed Groundperson section in LCQP Book Completed and signed Climber Training Completed and signed annual Aerial Rescue Training Passed LCCP test CPR and First Aid certification (required within 90 days of hire) Completed and signed
