The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and construction practices. This position requires a strong understanding of utility locating techniques, as well as proficiency in operating various tools and heavy equipment. The Locator will play a crucial role in preventing damage to existing utilities and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Duties Conduct utility locating activities using advanced equipment and techniques. Accurately mark the location of underground utilities such as water, gas, electric, and telecommunications. Collaborate with project teams to provide utility location information prior to excavation. Operate heavy equipment including bulldozers and loaders as necessary for site preparation. Utilize power tools and mechanical equipment for digging and cabling tasks. Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while on-site. Maintain detailed records of utility locations and site conditions. Requirements Proven experience in utility locating or a related field is preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate heavy equipment safely. Familiarity with digging, welding, cabling, rigging, and using power tools is essential. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical labor as required. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. A valid driver’s license may be required depending on job location.
