Stormwater Technician Position Summary:
The Stormwater Technician (Technician I) is an entry-level, hands-on field role responsible for supporting the operation, inspection, and maintenance of stormwater control measures (SCMs), ponds, wetlands, and related water resources systems. This individual will actively learn Foster Lake & Pond Management’s (FLPM) standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and software platforms, while exemplifying our Core Values and Vision daily.
Key Responsibilities:
Stormwater Device Maintenance:
Assist with inspections, preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and debris removal for stormwater ponds, wetland basins, bioretention areas, and other SCMs.
Aquatic & Vegetation Management:
Support aquatic weed control, freshwater fishery management, and turf care tasks as needed.
Equipment Operation:
Safely operate and maintain boats, trailers, hand tools, pumps, small engines, and heavy equipment under supervision.
Regulatory Compliance:
Learn and apply procedures outlined in Operations & Maintenance Manuals and maintain accurate inspection records.
Company Systems:
Consistently utilize timekeeping, scheduling, vehicle maintenance, and HR software.
Teamwork & Communication:
Maintain clear, professional communication with supervisors, clients, and co-workers; participate in feedback and team meetings.
Certifications & Training:
Obtain Stormwater Control Measure Inspection & Maintenance Professional certification and NC Aquatic Pesticide Applicator’s license within the first year.
Travel:
Perform fieldwork across residential and commercial sites with occasional overnight travel as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in environmental management, landscaping, water resources, or fisheries science preferred. Basic knowledge of stormwater management, pond maintenance, aquatic systems, or landscaping is advantageous. Physical stamina to work outdoors in variable weather and terrain, regularly lift/move up to 80 lbs., and work in/around water and mud. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR will be reviewed). Competence with basic computer programs and mobile apps. Positive attitude, dependable work ethic, and eagerness to learn.

$18.00 – $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
