Job Description

Director of Architecture JCC Design Studio Chattanooga, TN 37408 Position Summary The Director of Architecture is a full-time leadership role responsible for overseeing the design and construction of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Reporting directly to the principal, this role manages the architecture team and leads projects through all phases, including site design, architectural design, and presentation. Key responsibilities include team collaboration, client engagement, creative problem-solving, construction document management, and construction administration.

Essential Job Duties:
Architectural Design:

Develop and refine architectural designs that align with client requirements, regulatory standards, and best practices.

Documentation:

Prepare precise and comprehensive architectural drawings and specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Coordination:

Collaborate with clients, engineers, contractors, and consultants to ensure project alignment and seamless execution.

Quality Control:

Review and validate project documents to identify and address potential issues proactively.

Site Oversight:

Conduct site visits to assess progress, ensuring adherence to design intent, quality standards, and project specifications.

Team Leadership & Management:

Lead and mentor a team of 1-2 professionals, directing workloads, setting milestones, and fostering a culture of professionalism, trust, and excellence.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience in residential architectural design. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university (preferred). Strong knowledge of residential construction , framing standards, and building systems. Ability to effectively communicate design concepts through quick sketches and diagrams. Proficiency in BIM software ; experience with Archicad preferred. Expertise in the development, coordination, and execution of architectural working drawings and construction documents. Ability to research and integrate materials, techniques, and methods into designs to achieve project goals. Proficient in working with Mac-based operating systems and software .
