Full Job Description Overview:

The paving and pavement maintenance laborer will perform tasks involving physical labor at parking lots and roadways by operating one or several types of maintenance equipment. This position may also require routine repair and maintenance of equipment in addition to other duties.

Responsibilities:

Use of push blower and/or wire broom to clean surface prior to application of seal coat or crack fill material. Preparation of surface utilizing an asphalt crack cleaner to open surface cracks prior to filling. Application of crack fill material utilizing a crack seal kettle wand and/or a crack seal melting pot. Application of seal coat material utilizing a long-handled squeegee and/or spray wand. Manual labor including shoveling, brooming, and raking. Occasional equipment operation as trained Perform other duties as assigned. General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews. Required ability to shovel, rake, and handle other small tools. Equipment cleanup as needed. May be called upon to run small power tools. Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials. Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices. Perform minor maintenance and repair of equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Timekeeping via T-Sheets application required. Be able to work overtime when required. Must have strong work ethic. Ability to work in a team setting. Communication skills, ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, and the general public in a courteous, professional manner at all times. Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis. Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required. Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended. Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
