FUNCTION
Position has direct responsibility for the efficient and timely management of personnel, equipment, scheduling, safety, cost, quality workmanship, subcontractors, and completion of assigned project. Position reports to an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
See that new personnel are properly oriented with company policies, safety requirements and job responsibilities. Conduct periodic evaluations of assigned personnel. Review all daily records and verify their accuracy. Maintain daily log recording important conversations and events for future reference. Supervise and direct the activities of project subcontractors and ensure their compliance with all company policies and procedures, safety requirements and quality workmanship. Assist and direct personnel in the proper use and maintenance of equipment, improving job performance, controlling cost, increasing productivity, improving communication and adhering to company policies. Conduct a continuous evaluation of cost and yields, plans and schedules, job assignments, equipment needs, on the job training, safety, security and crime prevention needs. Reports any problems, changes or recommendations to the division manager and/or the project manager. Monitor and insist upon compliance of all company policies and procedures, employment laws and regulatory requirements. Maintain good relations with the general public, engineers, architects, inspectors and customers to facilitate job progress and to promote a positive company image. Perform additional duties as needed in the operations of the project or as directed by the Division Manager and/or Project Manager. Have proficiency in using smart devices and computers. Be knowledgeable of, and abide by, state and federal regulations/laws that apply to storm drain, water, force main and gravity sewer installation in the construction industry and other assigned areas of responsibility, as well as company policies and procedures. Conduct random audits of crew and equipment to verify all tools, equipment, materials, and PPE and available and functioning properly. Must have regular and predictable attendance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Work Experience:
Must have 5 to 10 years’ experience in storm drain, water, force main and gravity sewer installation. Knowledgeable in dewatering and sewer bypass operations Experience with NCDOT, Federal Govt and/or local utility owners a plus Military Installation(s) and Port Access a plus
Other Requirements:
Must be a minimum of 21 years old Must be authorized to work in the
US Physical Demands:
Light physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving materials up to 20 pounds. If a position specific Physical Demands sheet is attached, it will describe in more detail the physical demands that are required.
Physical Activity:
Position requires the ability to continuously work around noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment will be required. Position requires the ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information. Position will consist of night work and weekend work as needed based on project schedule and phasing.
