Onslow Grading and Paving Inc, a family owned grading and paving contractor in Jacksonville, NC, seeks an organized and energized team-player for a Foreman in the Asphalt Division. This role provides individuals with the opportunity to impact all of Onslow Grading and Paving Inc and serves as a foundation for growth within the company. It provides exposure, training, and experience for professional achievement and development within the Asphalt Division and across the company. Overview The Foreman is responsible for the successful, safe, and profitable execution of jobs within the Asphalt Division in accordance with guidelines. Also responsible for building and maintaining strong customer relationships through highly-responsive service, reliability, and quality projects. Responsibilities . Ensuring the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with job. Training new crew members. Calculating the number of trucks required to haul asphalt from the plant according to vehicle capacity, traffic conditions, distance from work site, and productivity of drivers. Touring job sites to ascertain progress in meeting time schedules, to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment, measure slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts, and to supervise the job. Supervising and coordinating crew activities, studying production schedules, and estimating work requirements for completion of job assignments in compliance with or beating the job estimate. Maintaining time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing. Maintaining and enforcing company policy. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance. Will directly supervise 5 to 10 asphalt paving employees Minimum Qualifications Experience is required. 5 years experience in field operations in the asphalt paving industry in a production/foreman capacity. Previous supervisory experience a must. High school diploma and/or a combination of education, experience and training. Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record. Must be able to pass drug screen. Must be able to pass background check to obtain military base access. Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently. Ability to keep time and material records.
