Durham, NC Job Details Full-time $20 an hour 16 hours ago Qualifications Masonry Heavy lifting Driver’s License Entry level Under 1 year Full Job Description Stonefruit Construction Co. is a hardscape design and installation business serving the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill region of North Carolina. Led by founder Emily Shepherd, the company specializes in building stone walls, pathways, patios, and masonry repairs using traditional craftsmanship. Stonefruit’s mission is to transform outdoor spaces with quality stonework. Most of the work by Stonefruit is highly custom. Work this summer will include a largish block retaining wall, a very large custom patio with boulder inlays, large stone steps rebuild, pathway rebuilds, and more. I’m looking for somebody who can work at least 30 hours a week, but preferably 40 hours. Pay is $20/hr. I cannot offer benefits at this time. I will pay a bonus for every single project that finishes ahead of schedule, even by just one day. I will provide a $100 PPE stipend for the summer, and I will provide eye pro, ear pro, and one expensive respirator. The stipend can go toward boots, gloves, kneepads, whatever you need. Looking for somebody who can start sometime between mid-May and early-June. I will not consider candidates who can’t start on or before June 9. REQUIRED
must be able to lift an 80 pound bag of mortar from the ground and walk thirty feet. Must be able to pick up a 94 pound bag of Portland cement from the ground and put it on the tailgate of the work truck. I will test this before hiring.

RESPONSIBILITIES
work safe with hand and power tools. assist in construction and repair of masonry structures using hand and power tools. interact professionally with clients, customers, and public. dress appropriately. bring lunch and water. drive work trucks. I do my best to limit the occurrences of lifting very heavy loads (~~>70 lbs) by dividing bags in half and storing them in buckets, but carrying 50 pounds is a near daily occurrence. Work entails many hours on hands and knees and is pretty hard on the hands/wrists, lots of gripping wide bricks and stones. Days may start as early as 7:30am at the work site anywhere in the triangle area. Work sites are mostly in Durham and north Chapel Hill. I’m looking forward to hearing from interested candidates!
