CARPENTER
IDefinition:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled carpentry work and technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Supervision:
Receives general supervision from higher level supervisory staff.
Duties – may include, but are not limited to, the following:1.Perform rough carpentry from beginning to end including new construction, maintenance and repair.2.Hang drywall sheathing and install other types and forms of paneling.3.Construct concrete formwork; pour and repair concrete pads, footings, stains and related items.4.Assist others in completing other related construction tasks.5.Perform general demolition of all types of building construction.6.Install/tie concrete reinforcing.7.Erect scaffolding and ladders.8.Follow oral instructions.9.Perform general cleanup at job sites.10.Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of:principles, procedures and terminology used in the construction trade; tools and materials used in carpentry; methods and procedures used in building construction; materials and equipment used in carpentry trades; occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
Ability to:correctly use and apply a variety of basic carpentry skills; understand and follow oral and written instructions; maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities (see Physical Conditions below); maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception for making observations, communicating with others, reading and writing, and operating assigned equipment and vehicles.
Education, Experience, Training, Licenses, and Certificates:
•Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.•
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Experience:
Minimum of one year related experience.
License:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid drivers license.
