Phoenix Labor Group is on the lookout for an experienced Marine Joiner to become a part of our dynamic team in the Gulf Coast region. As a Marine Joiner, you will be at the helm of installing, maintaining, and repairing within marine vessels. These roles are predominantly in shipyard environments, requiring prior shipyard experience, with some positions in alternative settings. Duties and responsibilities Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge. Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. Study specifications in blueprints to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws. Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level. Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures. Install interior ship components, such as joiner bulkhead panels, track for panels, ceilings, galley equipment, furniture, and other ship furnishings. Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using hand or power tools. Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace. Install rough door and window frames, subflooring, fixtures, or temporary supports in structures undergoing construction or repair. Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings. Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard. Apply shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, or decorative paneling to ceilings or walls. Perform minor plumbing and/or welding. Maintain records, document actions, and present progress reports. Critical Demands Repetitive forward bending, rotation of the trunk, and flexing of the hips and the knees. Lifting no greater than 50 lbs. from floor to 6 ft. work surface unassisted. Repetitive upper extremity movements while measuring, fitting, and welding. Sustained lifting of 25-35 lbs. at arm’s reach above head. Qualifications Ability to read, interpret, and analyze blueprint drawings. Experience with hand tin snips, cutting light gauge metal, and forming trim with manual break. Education and/or Experience Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a joiner in the shipyard industry required. Working Conditions The employee must comply with established company safety rules and OSHA standards. The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment as prescribed under OSHA standards. Must be able to hear warning signals and read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warnings. Work is outdoors or in open warehouse. There is no air conditioning or heating.
