Reads and studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated. Selects and transports appropriate materials and tools for job. Measures boards, timbers, plywood or other materials using a square, tape, and/or ruler, and marks cutting lines on material. Shapes materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and planes. Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, glue, or dowel pins. Braces forms in place with timbers, tie-rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls. Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete. Builds false work to temporarily strengthen, protect or disguise building concrete piers, footings, and walls Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and/or carpenters level. Operates survey equipment to ensure accuracy. Utilizes basic math skills while doing surveys and for measurements and assembly of structures. Duties may include light administration and assistance to Project Superintendent.

Physical Demands:

Field/Jobsite Environment – Standing, sitting, climbing, crawling, standing, crouching, bending, pushing/pulling, walking on uneven surfaces, and exposure to loud noises are to be expected on a jobsite environment. This position is predominately outdoors at an Industrial Construction Site. Exposure to extreme hot or cold outside temperatures is possible.

Position Type/Expected Work Hours:

This is a full-time, hourly position. Days and hours of work vary from each jobsite. Occasional evening/weekend work or travel may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience:

2+ years of industrial field experience as an Industrial Carpenter Helper Must take in-house Carpenter Helper Assessment or hold

NCCER Industrial Carpenter Certification Industry Related Requirements:

Must hold a valid TWIC Card Must hold a valid OSHA Basic Plus Must be able to pass all Safety Council related courses Must undergo Pre-Employment Screening (physical, drug & alcohol screen, audiogram, fit test if applicable) Must hold a valid Driver’s License to operate company equipment and/or vehicles The individual who occupies this position must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the health or safety of the individual or others that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation Carpenter Helper will be responsible to have the following tools:
