The Role We are seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our Minor Works Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out carpentry work across a variety of projects and locations, ensuring high standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism are consistently maintained. Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Install structures and fixtures such as windows, doors, framing, flooring, staircases, and partitions.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, and other materials.
- Build, assemble, and dismantle temporary frameworks such as shuttering or formwork.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance work as needed.
- Work alongside other tradespeople on-site to complete project tasks.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
- Travel between various sites as required, with flexibility to adapt to changing project demands. Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Promote a positive health and safety culture across the site.
- Enforce compliance with company H&S policies and UK legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations 2015).
- Report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to the Site Manager.
- Ensure PPE requirements, method statements and risk assessments are maintained at all times.
What We’re Looking For Essential:
- NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with both first and second fix carpentry.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong working knowledge of construction methods and trades.
- Valid CSCS card.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and construction specifications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
PASMA/IPAF
certification is an advantage.
- NVQ Level 3/Apprenticeship or above in a relevant construction trade.
- Experience working on residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
- SSSTS certification (or willingness to obtain).
- First Aid at Work qualification.
