SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance of Charlotte Motor Speedway properties; and performs related duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the Operations Facilities Department staff to perform facility maintenance to Charlotte Motor Speedway, 10/10ths Motor Club, The Dirt Track, and ZMAX Dragway
Performs a variety of painting and carpentry tasks including framing, drywall repair, interior and exterior painting, and track wall painting. Assigned projects with a focus in carpentry and painting and coordinates obtaining parts and supplies
Performs routine facility work orders and manages work orders on department software Assists with event dispatch tasks that require quick turnaround
Work events and perform various duties as needed to make event successful.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance, carpentry, painting and repair.
Knowledge of a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of public buildings.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Skills in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
Skill in using hand and power tools.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with CMS staff and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. This position involves being on site during all events that occur after normal business hours, weekends, and holidays. Classified as essential personnel, the position will be on the rotating 24 hour on call schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED and one (2) year building maintenance experience with a focus in carpentry, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid driver’s license is required.
