Carpenter – Nuclear EnergySolutions United States, North Carolina, Charlotte 121 West Trade Street (Show on map) Jun 11, 2025 Carpenter – Nuclear A Nuclear Carpenter is a skilled professional responsible for constructing, installing, and removing forms and scaffolding based on detailed blueprints. This role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a nuclear environment. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including meeting fitness for duty requirements.
Essential Functions:
Perform all job duties safely according to job requirements. Clean, inspect, repair (if necessary), and stack forms. Assist in proper form removal and installation. Maintain a clean work area and ensure good housekeeping. Identify and use carpentry tools effectively. Demonstrate proper use of non-power hand tools. Demonstrate proper use of various tools, including portable power tools. Install shoring and bracing. Select, measure, and cut materials accurately. Demonstrate proper use of shop power tools. Read and interpret advanced blueprints. Erect and disassemble commercial scaffolding. Fabricate and install job-built scaffolding. Perform detailed layout work. Perform framing and proper installation of framed openings. Perform craft-related math. Wear a respirator as needed (blood pressure no higher than 150/90). Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of experience. Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements. Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools. Availability for shift work, if needed. Ability to support other crafts as requested. Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels). Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures. Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures. Ability to pass specific training and qualifications. Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.
