Summary You will serve as a

INSULATOR

(CARPENTER) in the

PRODUCTION DIVISION

of

NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Responsibilities You will perform a full range of journey level task in the construction and repair of a wide variety of structural items. You will remove asbestos materials from all surfaces it has been applied on. You will lay out, measure, and cut, forms and install irregular shapes from all types of insulating materials for valves, fittings, flanges and similar parts that have both straight and curved surfaces and irregular curves and planes. You will keep job site cleared and free of scrap. You will remove residual oil and debris from tanks and barges. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Interprets instructions, sketches, blueprints and building codes; and measure and layout footings for structural foundations and constructs concrete forms and related structures.2) Repairs a variety of common metal office furniture and equipment to include, but not limited to desks, chair sand cabinets. Disassembles worn or damaged item. Replaces rollers, latches and hinges. Removes and replaces damaged tabletops. 3)Performs miscellaneous trade duties, such as carpet/linoliem laying, painting, plaster work countertop, setting ceramic tile laying or resetting concrete blocks. 4) Constructs items such as workbenches, counter tops, bookcases, equipment cabinets, computer consoles along with other items requiring limited decorative trim and molding. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
