Position Description
Advertised Job Summary Performs skills in rough and finish carpentry work within construction, alteration and repair of building structures. Knowledgeable in building and relocating walls with metal stud framing, hanging sheetrock, mudding sheetrock, and finishing sheetrock. Relocating and/or hanging new or old doors and installing door frames, installing door hardware, installing new and maintenance of acoustical ceilings, repairing and/or replacing flooring.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires job related accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalentbination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Must maintain considerable knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in building maintenance and construction. Must maintain knowledge and skill of the techniques and methods used in the carpentry trade
Job Duties
Job Duty Performs knowledge in skilled finish and rough carpentry work for the renovation of the interior and exterior of campus buildings by using blues and specifications and appropriate tools and/or equipment while following safe, productive and cost effective methods including but not limited to wall layouts, framing, drywall, ceilings and doors.

Job Duty Performs material take-off measurements to determine the amount of materials and labor cost required toplete each project assigned.
Build new walls from both metal or wood materials as indicated on architectural drawings. This includes but is not limited to the specific characteristics assigned to the 5 levels of finished grade.
Performs all work in accordance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations to include the International Building Code (IBC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This also includes all National Fire Code requirements related to fire protection in building envelops and all penetrations and specific assemblies of a variety of wall systems and materials.

Job Duty Conducts material takeoffs and purchases as required for assigned projects by performing site inspections, reviewing blues and specifications, taking actual material measurements, determining what materials and quantities of material need to be purchased, purchasing them following procurement guidelines and picking materials up and/or submitting material requests to supervisor for delivery.
Ensures the most cost effective products and best materials are purchased and installed.

Job Duty Takes personal initiative to identify and correct any problems and to develop strong customer service practices including customermunication and involvement, notifications, and process reviews to ensure customer needs are met whenever possible.
Refers higher level, problematic situations to the supervisor or assistant director.
Attends training and professional develop courses annually to include hazardous material training, first aid, OSHA safety courses and maintains all certifications and licenses to perform his duties at the highest level while training others who work under his supervision.

Job Duty Manages administrative tasks bypleting and maintaining accurate daily time sheets and required records including the use of a USC Purchasing Card and all receipts involved with the transactions;
Assisting with the Facilities inventory control by requesting, receiving and monitoring supplies, materials, and tools from Consolidated Supplies and outside vendors following established procurement policies and procedures; and attending meetings and training events related to customer service, safety and continuous improvement.

Job Duty Executes other related duties as assigned. These additional duties range from on-site supervisor which involves managing and overseeing multiple crews and other USC departments on larger specific renovation projects to acting and performing as the department crew supervisor when the current supervisor is absent or when needed.
