Hornblower is seeking a Seasonal Car Marshall for our City Ferry operation in Dauphin Island, Alabama.

About the
Opportunity:
The Car Marshall is responsible for interacting with ferry riders to coordinate their vehicle direction and queuing to appropriate areas of the vessel. The Car Marshall collects tolls, counts customers, sells ticket books, and also maintains applicable paperwork while providing a high level of customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Monitor waterway for vessel arrival and departure for most accurate vehicle and passenger queuing.
Monitor vehicles and passengers to ensure safety during times of large crowds.
Participate in onboard training and routine drills.
Demonstrate practical knowledge of all phases of shipboard safety procedures and knowledge of location and use of all firefighting and safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, life preservers, work vest) in the event of an emergency.
Use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Handle and dispose of all chemicals and other types of hazardous or caustic materials in compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) (as required).
Report safety related concerns.
Collect tolls and sell ticket books, using credit card system at times.
Ensure ticket authenticity and maintain required documentation for tolls collected and tickets sold.
Guarantee cash authenticity by utilizing available means, i.e. fraud detection pen.
Report vehicle and pedestrian counts to Captain as directed.
Assist in boarding and disembarking of passengers and vehicles.
Direct check-in vehicles into appropriate lane according to destination, vehicle type and size, etc.
Direct vehicles to proper area as disembarking vessel/ramp.
Direct departing vehicles from lanes to ramp to load in appropriate area, upon instruction from Captain.
Assist with training of employees as requested.
Maintain a clean work area.
Participate in meeting, training, drills and safety audits as required.
Additional job duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
HS Diploma
Valid First Aid/CPR Certification, and/or ability to obtain and maintain
Valid Driver’s License
Copy of DD214, if Veteran status
Ability to effectively interact with the passengers, guests, and fellow employees
Ability to work in fast-paced, quickly-changing environment
Ability to process calculations frequently and continuously
Basic Computer skills and knowledge/experience with tablets or iPads beneficial
Minimum six (6) months customer service experience
Minimum six (6) months cash handling experience
Previous marine industry experience preferred
Must be at least 18 years old
