We work closely with Housing Authorities to ensure that rental properties meet Public Housing Quality Standards (PHQS) and local housing codes. We are currently hiring a Full-Time Housing Inspector based in Opelika, Alabama . This is a field-based position for someone experienced in housing inspections, property management, or a similar field who enjoys working independently.

Important:

Although this position is based in Opelika, the inspector will also be responsible for conducting inspections in Montgomery, Alabama on a regular basis. Travel between these locations is required. What You’ll Do Conduct inspections (initial, annual, special, and re-inspections) on residential rental units, including Section 8 properties Ensure compliance with

PHQS, HUD

regulations, and local building codes Use digital inspection software (training provided) to document inspection results Professionally communicate with tenants, landlords, and housing authority staff Write clear, organized reports and recommend necessary repairs Requirements Experience in housing inspections, property management, or a similar field (preferred) Must reside in or near Opelika, AL Must be able to regularly travel to Montgomery, AL for inspections Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and current insurance (required) Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and mobile applications Attention to detail and familiarity with housing regulations Able to pass a background check and drug screening Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required Why Join Gilson?
