Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs skilled technical work, which includes routine inspections utilizing standard engineering practices to inspect the general construction of Land Development permitted projects, including public and private subdivisions, commercial projects, residential lot drainage/grading, driveway culvert installation, driveway construction, landscaping for compliance with the approved building permit, and right-of-way use permits within the unincorporated areas of Brevard County.

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or its equivalent five (5) years experience in roadway and drainage construction, surveying, underground utility construction, and/or inspection of these operations two (2) years of experience as a Brevard County Land Development Engineering Inspector I. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for a maximum substitution of three (3) years of qualifying education for three (3) years of experience. Professional work experience in Florida is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within one (1) year of employment, a valid Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within one (1) year of employment, a current Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within two (2) years of employment, a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Asphalt Paving Level I certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as required. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
