DESCRIPTION
Job Summary Inspect solid waste management facilities (landfill and transfer station) and contractor operations of facilities for compliance with contracts, permits, applicable local, state, and county codes, ordinances, regulations, standards, and specifications. Maintains a landfill deep injection well. Review permits and reports in order to ensure compliance. This position is assigned to the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Division. Essential Functions Performs field inspections of landfill, transfer station, site development, and other construction/repair projects conducted by contractors to ensure project compliance with applicable codes, standards, agreements, and approved construction plans/specifications. Maintains the landfill deep injection well and monitors the SCADA. Schedules and/or attends inspections and meetings related to operations, including but not limited to progress meetings, safety, and construction activities. Reviews fill sequence plans, reports, plans, specifications and related documentation for compliance with agreements, contracts, applicable industry standards, state, county, and local codes, ordinances, regulations, standards, specifications, policies and procedures, engineering codes and regulatory standards; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations. Reviews as-built drawings and reports for compliance with approved construction plans/specifications. Interprets, explains, and ensures compliance with applicable state, county, and local codes, ordinances, regulations, standards, specifications, policies, and procedures, as well as approved construction plans/specifications; prepares reports, documents conditions, and initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations. Provides information and technical assistance concerning reports, plans, construction requirements, non-compliance issues, and related issues; meets with and discusses problem areas with contractors, developers, engineers, architects, and property owners; recommends solutions to problems; responds to questions, concerns, or complaints. Coordinates inspection activities with other County divisions, contractors, property owners, outside agencies, or other individuals Completes inspections of work, methods, and materials and compares actual work to approved/planned work; determines whether projects are in compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and approved plans; identifies potential or existing performance deficiencies or deficiencies; ensures that development improvements are in agreement with design plans; ensures that any is corrected; ensures that owners of the property or neighboring property are not adversely impacted by constructed improvements. Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three (3) years of related experience.
- Fingerprinting Required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
