We are seeking an experienced and qualified Building Code Administrator to lead and manage our building inspection department. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with all relevant building codes and regulations, and provide expert guidance to our team of inspectors. This role requires extensive knowledge of Florida building codes and certifications, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in private provider inspections.

What you will do:

Oversee the Building Inspection Department, managing a team of inspectors, schedulers, and support staff. Ensure that inspections comply with Florida building codes, local ordinances, and other relevant standards. Conduct and oversee inspections in areas such as building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and structural integrity. Develop and implement departmental procedures to improve efficiency and quality of inspections. Manage the department’s budget, staffing needs, training, and resource allocation. Ensure that all inspections, reports, and documentation are completed accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner. Provide technical expertise, guidance, and mentorship to inspection team members. Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure open communication and high customer satisfaction. Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless project delivery and compliance with client requirements. Conduct training programs to ensure all inspection staff are knowledgeable and compliant with current building codes and safety standards.

What you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree. 10+ years of experience in building inspection, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong understanding of Florida Building Code, including updates, and relevant regulations. A state of Florida Building Inspector License (BN) Florida Plans Examiner (PX) Florida Building Code Administrator (BCA) (preferred but not required for all candidates) Residential Building Inspector (B1) Commercial Building Inspector (B2) Residential Electrical Inspector (E1) Commercial Electrical Inspector (E2) Residential Mechanical Inspector (M1) Commercial Mechanical Inspector (M2) Residential Plumbing Inspector (P1) Commercial Plumbing Inspector (P2) Skills preferred but not required: Strong leadership, project management, and team-building abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in inspection software and digital reporting tools. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively. Strong knowledge of private provider inspection requirements and processes in Florida.
