We are currently seeking a dependable and safety-minded Survey Technician – Manhole Inspection to support Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) operations out of our Jacksonville office.
What You’ll Do:
This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in infrastructure inspection, utilities, and public safety. As a Manhole Inspector, you will assist with evaluating and documenting the condition of underground utility structures, working closely with a team of experienced surveyors and engineers on projects that support both municipal and private-sector clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct visual inspections of manholes and related underground infrastructure, identifying physical defects, structural issues, and safety concerns. Document inspection results using photographs, written assessments, and digital reporting tools. Operate and maintain specialized tools and inspection equipment, including pole cameras, gas detectors, and confined space monitors. Follow all confined space entry procedures and support safety compliance in accordance with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations. Assist in identifying maintenance and repair needs to support asset management and rehabilitation planning. Coordinate with survey and engineering teams to ensure accurate reporting and data collection. Support field mobilization efforts and maintain proper care and inventory of equipment.
What You’ll Bring:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in construction, civil engineering, utilities, or surveying is a plus. Must be a U.S. citizen due to the Federal projects associated with this role. Clean criminal background check required for access to secure sites. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to obtain Confined Space Entry certification upon hire (prior certification preferred). Strong attention to detail and ability to follow inspection protocols and safety guidelines. Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, walking long distances, and working in confined or physically demanding environments.
