Q ualifications Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction, Engineering, Management, Public Administration or related field; or High School diploma/GED and four (4) additional years of related experience. Eight (8) years of experience in the field of construction, engineering or design inspection and/or plans review. Certification as a Florida Standard Inspector with Building Special Qualification. Must qualify for a Provisional certification as a Florida Building Plans Examiner within ninety (90) days from the date of hire and obtain certification as a Florida Standard Plans Examiner with Building Special Qualification within one (1) year from the date of hire, through the State Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Key Responsibilities Directs and supervises the work of Inspectors, as assigned. Provides information to contractors, developers, engineers, architects, owners, and the public concerning building practices, building and zoning regulations, municipal codes, and permitting requirements. Responds to contractors, developers, owners, design professionals and other agencies regarding issues or responses related to the technical examination and application of state, federal, and local codes and statutes for inspection work for structural, plumbing, mechanical and electrical trades and multi-family housing. Performs or assigns inspections for new and existing residence, business, commercial and other buildings and structures for conformance with safety and construction requirements of established state and local codes.
