  • a division of Bureau Veritas-is seeking a licensed Building Plans Examiner and Inspector for inspection and plan review services of construction projects.

The work involves the interpretation and application of these regulations as applied to customer relations, the review of building construction blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings and other project documents. Some travel will be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned area. Candidates must possess a professional demeanor, have both technical and industry experience, and be a team player. Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications Conducts examination of building permit applications, including blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals and shop drawings and all other required documents for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other regulations relating to building construction. Prepare written and electronic reports and issue notices of correction Recognize, evaluate and properly resolve unique problems or situations Meets with design professionals, contractors and other interested parties to discuss technical code issues which arise during the plan review process. Prepares and maintains all required records and reports. Inspects buildings and other facilities for compliance with the Florida Building Code and all other related regulations as required by the supervisor. Receives and responds to inquiries from homeowners/property owners, contractors, architects, engineers, etc., regarding codes and review procedures. Performs general administrative/office work as required, including but not limited to attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc. Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including building plans, shop drawings, engineering reports, permit applications, job pricing records and reports, code compliance complaints, correspondence, etc. Interacts and communicates with the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other department personnel, property/home owners, developers, contractors, architects, engineers, County personnel, general public, etc. Reviews permits for residential and commercial to ensure that they conform to the applicable codes. Enforces and explains pertinent sections of the applicable codes. Issues verbal and written notices of code violation and citations for code violations. Assists in resolving complex and sensitive customer service issues, either personally, by telephone or in writing. Maintains records and documents of customer service issues and resolutions. Researches problems and complaints regarding commercial and residential work and code compliance. Maintains high ethical, honesty and moral standards. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience:

Licensed General Contractor’s for a minimum of five (5) years; and State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building; or State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building, or ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/ or Inspection certification in building; and Must have knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other regulations pertaining to construction and development. Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals and projects under construction to verify conformance with code requirements.
