TRADES BUILDING PLANS EXAMINER AND INSPECTOR CAP
Government, Inc. is seeking the immediate hire of licensed Part Time Plans Examiners and Inspectors needed for inspection and plan review services of construction projects throughout South Florida (Jurisdictions within: Palm Beach County, Broward County, Miami Dade Counties).
Building OR Mechanical OR Electrical OR Plumbing Signing Bonus:
Paid Out after 90 Days and a minimum of 20 hours/week
Retention Bonus:
Paid Out Annually with a minimum of 20 hours/week or 1000 hours worked The work involves the interpretation and application of these regulations as applied to customer relations, the review of building construction blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings and other project documents. Some travel may be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned area. Candidates must possess a professional demeanor, have both technical and industry experience, and be a team player. Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications
- Conduct examination of building permit applications, including blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals and shop drawings and all other required documents for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other regulations relating to building construction.
- Prepare written and electronic reports and issue notices of correction
- Meets with design professionals, contractors and other interested parties to discuss technical code issues which arise during the plan review process.
- Prepares and maintains all required records and reports.
- Inspect buildings and other facilities for compliance with the Florida Building Code and all other related regulations as required by the supervisor.
- Receives and responds to inquiries from homeowners/property owners, contractors, architects, engineers, etc., regarding codes and review procedures.
- Performs general administrative/office work as required, including but not limited to attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc.
- Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including building plans, shop drawings, engineering reports, permit applications, job pricing records and reports, code compliance complaints, correspondence, etc.
- Interacts and communicates with the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other department personnel, property/homeowners, developers, contractors, architects, engineers, County personnel, general public, etc.
- Review permits for residential and commercial to ensure that they conform to the applicable codes.
- Enforces and explains pertinent sections of the applicable codes.
- Issues verbal and written notices of code violation and citations for code violations.
- Assists in resolving complex and sensitive customer service issues, either personally, by telephone or in writing.
- Maintains records and documents on customer service issues and resolutions.
- Research problems and complaints regarding commercial and residential work and code compliance.
- Maintains high ethical, honesty and moral standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the
Manager Education/Experience:
- Licensed General Contractor’s for a minimum of five (5) years; and
- State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building OR Mechanical OR Electrical OR Plumbing
- State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in Building OR Mechanical OR Electrical OR Plumbing
- ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/ or Inspection certification in Building OR Mechanical OR Electrical OR Plumbing
- Must be certified or eligible to be certified as a Building Plans Examiner by the Miami Dade and/or the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA).
- Must have knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other regulations pertaining to construction and development.
- Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals and projects under construction to verify conformance with code requirements.
Signing Bonus:
Paid Out after 90 Days and a minimum of 20 hours/week
Retention Bonus:
Paid Out Annually with a minimum of 20 hours/week or 1000 hours worked
