Specific instruction and areas of responsibility are set forth when initial duty assignments are made by the Chief Building Inspector, which requires limited supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) Four (4) years of experience in building construction trades, construction and architecture inspections, or civil engineering Based on current state law, education (in architecture, engineering, or a construction-related field only) can be substituted for experience for up to three (3) years Standard Inspector (Mechanical) License required or the ability to qualify for and obtain a provisional (Mechanical) state license within the time period allotted by the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation Must obtain the Standard Inspector (Mechanical) License prior to expiration of the Provisional License Based on department need, a particular license may be required when filling a vacancy, but specifics will be clearly outlined on the posting Valid Florida Driver’s License or from another state for transfer within 30 days of hire
