Remote work is not an option for this role due to the operational and in-person inspection requirements The Contract Field Inspector plays a critical role in maintaining high standards for vendor performance across County facilities. This position performs moderately independent contract inspection work, including conducting routine, follow-up, and unannounced inspections, documenting compliance, and supporting vendor accountability. Work is performed in a facilities and/or construction environment and includes oversight of vendors performing services such as janitorial, landscaping, pest removal, facility repairs, general maintenance, and other contracted operational services. The role may also include assessing and reporting facility damage, assisting with volunteer coordination, and participating in routine or quick-response maintenance-related efforts. We are seeking a proactive, field-oriented individual who communicates effectively and contributes to process improvements. What Would You Do? Conducts routine, follow-up, and unannounced field inspections of contracted services for compliance with contract terms and performance standards. Performs both interior and exterior site inspections, including during less-than-optimal weather conditions when necessary to ensure timely reporting and vendor accountability. Oversees vendor activities in a facilities and/or construction environment, including services such as janitorial, landscape maintenance, pest control, and building repairs. Prepares detailed inspection reports with photos, narratives, and corrective action recommendations. Partners with Facility Operations to communicate expectations, document performance issues, and support resolution. Participates in contract onboarding, closeout, and transition walkthroughs with vendors and County personnel. Assists in developing inspection checklists based on contract terms or industry standards. Provides input on vendor SOPs and standardized inspection tools. Assists in reviewing scopes of work and developing specifications for solicitations (IFBs/RFPs). Supports invoice verification by confirming that billed services were rendered per contract requirements. Coordinates compliance-related tasks such as background checks and badge issuance for vendor personnel. Utilizes inspection databases and dashboards to track site conditions, monitor vendor performance, and support reporting needs. Attends external vendor meetings and internal staff meetings to discuss site observations and contract performance trends. What Do You Need To Have?

Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree with coursework in basic accounting, purchasing, procurement, or project cost control work; and one (1) year of training and/or experience with contract management; or three (3) years of experience in contract management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in public sector contract compliance, vendor oversight, or facilities maintenance Ability to clearly document findings using written summaries and photo evidence Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, inspection or work order software, and basic GIS applications Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field Additional Requirements Valid Florida Driver’s License Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations. This is a field-based position; the employee will be expected to spend four out of five days per week on-site at County facilities Remote work is not an option for this role due to the operational and in-person inspection requirements Willingness to travel daily to various County locations A County vehicle will be provided for official duties; the employee is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and adhering to the maintenance schedule provided by Fleet Management for the assigned vehicle (Fleet will maintain the vehicle). A Driver Awareness Course, provided by the County, must be completed within 30 days of employment. May be required to respond during emergencies, special events, or outside of standard business hours Willingness to accept work-related calls on a personal phone; a County-provided stipend will be issued This position requires regular interaction with public officials, contractors, private citizens, and internal County staff. Must be comfortable engaging with others both in person and via email or phone, and able to communicate inspection findings clearly and professionally Proficiency with office software applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
