Job Description
The City of Hinesville is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Inspections for the Inspections department. This position is responsible for assisting in planning and administering the activities of the department and ensuring compliance with building construction codes and related ordinances.
Major duties include assisting the Director of Inspections to ensure that all city-adopted building, zoning, and construction codes, standards, specifications, policies, procedures, and interpretations are properly applied, enforced, and updated. This position also assists with managing the coordination of building, and site development engineering permit review and inspection processes; advising, preparing, and developing recommendations to the city administration regarding the need for new ordinances; providing direction in the inspection of building construction and site development projects to assure structural and architectural components are following city-adopted building construction, fire codes, and standards and in developing department goals and methods for achievement that correlate with and compliment city council direction.
Knowledge of inspection and code enforcement methods, construction terminology, and the principles and practices of the development and execution of the permit process is required. Skills in applying the concepts and intentions of the International Building, Residential, Mechanical, Plumbing, Energy Conservation, Fire Prevention, NationalElectrical, and Life Safety Codes along with their associated Georgia State amendments and other applicable regulations and standards governing the development, construction, use and maintenance of land and structures is also required.
