Part-Time Engineering Technician/Construction Inspector Fourrier & de Abreu Engineers, LLC 10995 Coursey Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 Part-Time Engineering Technician/Construction Inspector Seeking a motivated and detail-orientedperson to support civil infrastructure projects across the Baton Rouge region and throughout the State of Louisiana. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in construction inspection, materials testing, and field documentation – particularly within the framework of LADOTD or municipal projects. The position offers flexible hours and is perfect for experienced technicians seeking part-time opportunities while remaining active in the field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform field inspections of civil construction activities such as roadways, drainage systems, concrete placement, embankment construction, and, traffic control implementation.
- Verify contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable LADOTD standards.
- Conduct and/or document basic materials testing procedures , including asphalt placement, base course & embankment compaction, concrete sampling, etc.
- Track construction progress , photograph site conditions, and maintain accurate daily field logs.
- Monitor public and contractor safety practices on active sites.
- Communicate with project engineers, contractors, and local agencies as needed.
- Report and document any nonconformance issues in a timely manner.
- Attend site meetings and walkthroughs when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree or equivalent field experience in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline.
- Previous experience with LADOTD construction projects preferred.
- Possession of one or more of the following certifications is a plus: LADOTD Asphalt Paving Inspection LADOTD Structural Concrete Inspection LADOTD Paving Inspection
LADOTD PCC
Plant Technician LADOTD Embankment & Base Course Inspection
- Strong understanding of construction plans, traffic control standards, and field safety protocols .
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a field environmental.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using digital tools for reporting and documentation.
- Must have a valid driver’s license .
