Job Description
The Town of Yarmouth is searching for a Plumbing and Gas Inspector tojoin their Building team! Working under the general/direct supervisionof Director of Inspectional Service/ Building Commissioner, the Plumbingand Gas Inspector performs varied and detailed inspection duties of atechnical nature requiring the exercise of considerable judgement inensuring compliance with proper standards and the enforcement ofpertinent laws and regulations.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Licensed in accordance with 248 CMR and five years’experience as a Master Plumber/Master Gasfitter.
Knowledge, Ability andSkill:
Thorough knowledge of plumbing theory and practices and of stateand local laws and regulations pertaining to plumbing work. Ability toread and interpret blueprints, drawings and plans. Ability to preparenecessary diagrams. Ability to read and enforce regulations firmly,tactfully, and impartially. Ability to maintain complete and accurateinspection records and to prepare reports. Ability to communicateeffectively in oral and written form. Massachusetts Class D MotorVehicle Operator’s License required. Massachusetts Master’s Plumber’sLicense and Master’s Gas Fitter’s License required.
PhysicalRequirements:
Constant light to moderate physical effort demanded inmaking inspections. Major portion of shift spent in the field.
Frequently required to climb and reach. Must be able to access alllevels at a construction site. May be required to walk and standapproximately six hours per day. Vision must be correctable to”normal” ranges. Must be able to distinguish colors and judgedistances and spatial relationships.
