Construction Materials Technician / Special Inspector Job Description An emerging engineering firm in the NC marketplace is seeking Civil Engineers, Geotechnical, and/or Construction Services professionals to join our team as Engineering Technicians/Field Technicians. This role is based in the triad market, offering an opportunity to build your career and contribute to the reputation and growth of our triad office. Responsibilities Visit job sites and construction sites to gather samples of various soils and concrete. Conduct field and laboratory testing of concrete, soil, aggregates, and asphalt. Test materials on-site or transport them to the office/laboratory based on size and quantity. Perform inspections and testing as required, ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Essential Skills ACI Certification (preferred and required) High attention to detail Strong verbal and written communication skills Willingness to submit to an MVR test (company vehicle provided) Previous experience in labor or field roles (e.g., landscaping, farming, construction labor, field service work) Ability to read and write reports Ability to work independently Additional Skills & Qualifications ACI Certification Experience in soil inspections Experience in concrete inspections Experience in masonry inspections Experience in asphalt inspections Experience in concrete testing Experience in soil testing Work Environment You will ride with a team member to job sites for the first few months until you are up to speed, after which you will be provided with a company truck to drive to assigned job sites. The majority of the work will be outdoors or involve driving to the shop or the next job site. Job sites are typically construction sites in the early stages of their building process.
